The present research aimed to analyze the nature of the relationship between precariousness, violence and suffering in the daily work of substitute teachers of an IFES. In order to do so, a characterization of the conditions and work organization of these teachers was made, identifying the violence associated with them, as well as the mediation strategies used by these professionals in the face of adversity. It was decided to use the theoretical-methodological reference of the Psychodynamics of Work in articulation with historical-dialectical materialism, applying to the work and action clinic recommended by Christophe Dejours. From this perspective, data collection had as main source the construction of a public space of discussion, which occurred through the organization of 14 weekly collective sessions, involving 06 substitute teachers. The work clinic covered the following stages: pre-survey, which included documentary analysis and 31 interviews, 28 of which were professors and 3 were managers (department heads), aiming to survey the demand; the research itself, which took place after the sessions, with clinical observation, discussion and interpretation of the contents; and validation, which occurred simultaneously to the development of the research, given its research of action character. It was observed that subtle violence occurs in the conditions and organization of work and in industrial relations, which cause suffering at work; however, without it taking the fate of pathologies. According to that suffering, teachers use strategies of defense of denial, adaptation and exploitation. Nevertheless, they are able to mobilize themselves subjectively in their work, preserving their health and experiencing pleasure, because they are faced with activities with which they identify themselves, because they see in them a meaning and a social contribution, besides the fact that they have a certain degree of Autonomy and social recognition coming from the students. The use of the psychodynamic work clinic was pertinent and favorable to the emancipation of the workers, being an activity that contributes to a social and political performance of the psychology professionals, in which the health of the worker effectively becomes the main objective to be achieved.
