Resumo: | The world of work is constantly undergoing changes in the organization and restructuring of work. Public institutions are increasingly advancing in the perspective of performance and results that meet the needs of the population. In this context, public servants are included, who need to adapt to the demands and reformulations in work processes. Thus, the general objective of this dissertation is to investigate the relationship between the resilience capacity and self-perception of work performance of state public servants in Maranhão. To this end, the following specific objectives were outlined: to verify the level of resilience of state public servants in Maranhão, including sociodemographic and functional correlates; to identify the level of self-perception of work performance of participants, including sociodemographic and functional correlates; to demonstrate the main protective factors of resilience that can influence the self-perception of performance in the work environment by public servants; and to examine whether the employment relationship and the type of activity of public agencies moderate the relationship between resilience and self-assessment of work performance of state public servants. To achieve these objectives, three correlated and interdependent studies were conducted. The methodological approach was descriptive and quantitative, using primary and cross-sectional data. For data collection, the research applied the Resilience Scale for Adults (RSA) and the General Work Performance Scale (EGDT), both scales validated in the Brazilian context, and the sociodemographic questionnaire of the participants. The research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Maranhão under CAAE No. 75551423.3.0000.5087. In total, the sample consisted of 253 state civil servants assigned to two public agencies in Maranhão. Quantitative analyses were performed using descriptive and multivariate statistical analysis of the data, including confirmatory factor analysis, using the SPSS and R software. The CFA results confirmed the six-factor structure of the RSA and the two-factor multidimensional structure for the EGDT. The findings of the first study revealed moderate to high resilience among participants, correlated with length of service, management position, age, and marital status. The second study showed that most state civil servants in Maranhão have a satisfactory perception of their job performance, correlated with gender and monthly family income. The third study found that protective factors, such as a planned future, positively influence this perception. In addition, it was found that employment status and the type of activity of the public agency do not affect the relationship between resilience and job performance. It is concluded that resilience is positively associated with the self-assessment of the performance of public servants, highlighting the importance of understanding and developing this competency in public institutions. |
