Resumo: Study about the Social Worker’s professional exercise on the scope of the Politic of Professional Education and Brazilian Technology, aiming to understand the possibilities and the limits of a coherent acting with the principles that guide the Professional Ethical-Political Project considered hegemonis by the Social Service. The enlargement of requisition to the Social Service in Federal Institutions of Education, due to expansion of Professional and Technological Education, is pointed as one of the main determinants of the education expansion as a place social-occupational for the profession. The analises looks for empirical references in the Federal Institutions of Education, Science and Technology at a national level.teh categories that fundamente the analisis are: work, social work, education and mediation. The acting of the Social Worker on the Professional and Technological Education was analysed by in the contradition between principles that guided the construtuion of the Professional Ethical-Political Project of Social Service and the neoliberal ideas that fundamente the educational reforms. The analisis of particularities of the social worker job in Federal Institutions of Education considered the social workers profile, the functions performed by Social Workers, actions developed in the institutional daily life, the chalenges and possibilities for the Professional Ethical-Political Project materialization in this field of activity. It is considered that the challenges are mediated by the contradiction between the neoliberal principles and those that guide the Ethical-Political Project; by the correlation of forces on the institutional space and by the commitment of work conditions resulting from the public education assistance process. Favorable mediations to possibilities are related to the commitment of professionals with the Professional Ethical-Political Project of Social Service, the organization and the social-politic articulations of the category, the development of social-educational actions and the correlation of forces on the institutional relations context.
