Resumo: In this dissertation we carried out a study in the community of babassu coconut breakers on the educational practices of teachers who work in youth and adult education at the Cantinho do Saber III Municipal School, as instruments of awareness and liberation of EJA subjects. To do this, we seek to understand liberating educational practices with an emphasis on Paulo Freire's pedagogical thought, using qualitative research with the methodology of action research, which, according to Barbier (2002), action research forces the researcher to involve themselves. “He realizes that he is implicated by the social structure in which he is inserted and by the interplay of desires and interests of others”. (BARBIER, 2002, p.14). Thus, the concept of action research is built based on possibilities of articulation between reflection and action in the educational practice of youth and adult education, which was of great redefinition for the work with the dialogue of Freirean culture circles and the reflections through situations, problems, challenges. The data obtained served to understand the reality investigated as well as the challenges faced by EJA teachers who hope in their daily pedagogical work. In this way, the dialogical experience of culture circles made it possible to share a lot of Freirean knowledge that lovingly gave new meaning to the pedagogical work of the researched subjects. This research is the starting point for us to continue hoping in the perspective of Paulo Freire's literature in the form of youth and adult education.
