Resumo: This paper refers to the repercussion of retirement on subjetivity of inactive Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA) professors and has specific objectives, to identify the possible repercussions of retirement in the family life, looking from the eye of the own retired professor; to analyze the pleasure experiences and the psychic suffering of the retired UFMA professor, in the condition of inactive plublic servant and understand the possible age prejudice and the psyichic suffering of the retired professor in the condition of inactive public servant. It adopts the theorical-methodological proposal based on the conceptual approach of the Psychodynamic of Work, prioritizing the following categories: mediation strategies, recognition, pleasure and suffering. Another theoretical reference used in this study is the one of Social-Historic Psychology based on the reference of the Materialism Historic-Dialectical, once, the psycological phenomenum is linked to a social, economical and cultural reality. To know and study the repercussions in the subjectivy is necessary to understant it as an objective assumption produced by people and understand the ideas and knowledges produced, social and historically, guide the human actions and transform them. During the labor life, the worker builds the life sense toward the situations of pleasure and suffering. It is connect the notion of working with productive time and the retirement with the time of no work. The nowadays society valorizes what is productive, useful, connect with the production and consume, what makes the elderly invisible on their wishes, to be tutelaged, stereotyped and seen as a person with no rights. The elderly conception on Western world nowadays is linked with uselessness and social weight, could lead the ones who gets old to suffer with prejudice and discrimination. This study was made based on an bibliographic and empiric research made with six retired, by the contribution time to the pension fund and age, professors, that did not return to teaching at university. This is a qualitative study, that used as a data base collector a semi structured interview and to data analyses used the Discourse Critic Analysis (DCA) from Fairclough. The discourse brought by the professores on the professional lifetime it is made of social and cultural product that direct impacts the activities, the social relationships and the subjetivity of the retired professors. There is a preparation to enter the working world, but not the same concern when the matter is the stop of labor life. There are individual ways to deal with that demands and not everyone can face these facts in a pleasure and calm way. There are reflections about the relevance of studies made that aim to identify the ways of facing the retirement. The retired worker can keep the vitality, the authonomy, the pleasure and attenuate the suffering experiences.
