Resumo: In this work we aimed at analyzing the economic feasibility of the inclusion of different levels of sunflower seed oil (SO) in the diet of dairy cows. We also analyzed the economic feasibility of the diets, considering the values paid by the subsidies of the contents of fat and protein, and by the volume of milk, as well as improving and validating the CU$TO DIETAS computer system. The data originated from two experiments conducted at the EMBRAPA Gado de Leite, which evaluated the production and composition of the milk of Holstein X Gyr and Holstein cows receiving diets based on tropical forage (Saccharum officinarum and Pennisetum purpureum) and supplemented with different SO levels (0.0, 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5%). The calculations were performed considering the process of the ingredients provided and the daily intake of the diet of each treatment. The payment for quality was estimated based on the mean of eight systems used by companies in the dairy segment, based on the subsidy by the contents of fat and protein in the milk. The inclusion of SO in the diets based on Saccharum offinarum and Pennisetum purpureum Schum was not economically feasible, since the values received by the subsidies of fat and protein were not sufficient to pay for the additional expenses with SO. The CU$TO DIETAS computer system was efficient, and can be used as an important tool to aid technicians and producers regarding the choice of different diets in the dairy business.
