Resumo: This research seeks to contribute with the studies of communication about the representation of mental health. With television as a central object, we go through the definitions and ideas about mental health, madness, citizenship, television and representation in order to develop a theoretical structure that gives support to the content analysis that will be developed. From the ideas of Foucault's is done a reflection about mental health as a social, politics and historical issue, that generates midiatic representations. From that, arise the idea of stigma within the television aesthetics of grotesque, having as guide autors Muniz Sodré and Raquel Paiva. These theorizations support the content analysis of the editions with the theme of mental health in A Liga tv show. As a result we present reflections about the media not affirmative representation of citizenship of the mentally ill and the correlation between madness and institutionalization. In the scope of the television products we came to reflections about what the tv show The League presented as journalism, or how it uses its foundations to present a new product: the spectacular pseudo journalism.
