Resumo: Objective: to describe the characteristics of the demand and the Emergency and Emergency care in Otorhinolaryngology in a teaching hospital, in the city of Goiânia (Goiás). Method: A cross-sectional, quantitative study using a questionnaire with a semi-structured interview and a medical record of 518 adult patients of both sexes. Results: The tracing profile for men and women did not show a significant difference between the sexes. The average age of the participants was, 40.2 years. The schooling is of a high school diploma. The predominant color / race was brown, and the conjugal situation, with companion, being the majority domiciled in Goiânia, in urban zone. Almost all reported that they had sought prior assistance in basic health units from which they had been referred. The most frequent diagnostic hypotheses were related to otology. The most adopted medical conduct was drug treatment. After analysis, it can be concluded that the study met the objectives outlined characterizing the service and demand of CEROTO.
