This paper presents a comparative analysis of some methodologies for deterministic and heuristic optimization, applied to a classic problem in control theory. The aim is to determine the parameters tuning Proportional and Integral (PI) controller. The PI controller is used to control the speed of the DC motor. The mathematical model of the DC motor and the independent excitation of the AC-DC converter that is used in driving it is developed. From the mathematical model, the computational model is developed to perform the analysis of a commercial DC motor. In order to validate the computational model, a training bench is built, tests are performed and the results of the comparison between the methods of optimization are presented.
