This work connects to the search line Culture and Educational Processes and has as an study object the reciprocity constituent of modernization, individualization and privatization of spheres of sociability. It aims to explain the formation of this historic process, explaining its fundamental connections. This is a literature search, in which emphasis is the categories of modernization, individualization, family and media, symbolically represented by television, considered the contribution from a historical and social. It is concluded that the process of privatization of the social spheres is a constitutive aspect of modern society in their movement for the consolidation and expansion. In that case, the family is a significant emblem to form the headquarters of the private world. The privatization of the family provides the necessary openness for the accommodation of the media of mass inside, especially for television, which allows an even greater emphasize that privatization, constitutive element of capitalist development
