Resumo: This paper presents an analysis of the urban production of Ewald Janssen, a German immigrant who arrived in Goiânia in 1949. His life in Nazi Germany and his work in several neighborhoods in Goiânia, makes him a singular figure in the history of this city. The objective is to analyze and problematize the imaginary city of Janssen present in his writings from 1950 onwards. This dissertation seeks to intimately relate Janssen's experience with basic themes to his production: the Industrial-City and Green Areas. The basic sources refer to documents arranged in the Janssen Archive, present in the Anthropological Museum of the Federal University of Goiás (MA-UFG). The theoretical foundation is composed by the Historiography which has culture as a central theme to understand the subject's relationship with the city; moreover, authors of Cultural Materialism are extremely important for the development of this research. It is concluded, therefore, that Ewald Janssen was an active character in the discussion of economic progress for the city of Goiás, not just a secondary individual, as treated by current historiography.
