Resumo: This research focuses on the series of poems called Odes maiores ao pai (Major odes to father), by Hilda Hilst, and investigates its relationship with the process of mourning, as stated by Freud and Lacan in Psychoanalysis. Furthermore, it suggests that the process of mourning itself is not only a validbut also a key factor when dealing with the general overview of her work. In the analysis of antithetical pairs of words or expressions in the sequence os the odes, a greater and significant contrast is found, that of darkness and light, which forces the poet to find a synthesis, expressed it the act of writing poetry itself. It also reflects the process of mourning, which gains a perspective of future, a sort of beyond as something that is yet to be said and whom the sun rises to.
