Resumo: Intestinal parasitosis represents a major sanitary problem in Brazil, due to the great number of individuals affected by the illness. Its frequency is associated with different factors, such as nutritional state, and socioeconomical and sanitary conditions of the affected individuals. Undernutrition is the main cause of the great morbimortality data concerning children up to 5 year old in developing countries, specially when it is associated with diarrhea, which is very common when speaking of enteroparasite infections. The purpose of this work was to relate the presence of undernutrition and intestinal parasitosis in children from 2 to 5 years and 11 months old, and to verify also the co-relation between blood eosinophyl count and enteroparasite infections, and their socioeconomical and sanitary conditions. All these children were enrolled in public day nursery in Niterói. In order to do this a nutritional evaluation of the children was done through anthropometric measures, using the Weight/Age index (W/A), Weight/Height (W/H), and Height/Age (H/A), using the WHO (World Health Organization) classification by Z score and having as a pattern the NCHS curve 2000. The white series was evaluated from the peripheric blood and the enteroparasite infections diagnosis was done by the Coprotest. In the enteroparasite infections frequency study and in the blood eosinophyl count evaluation 156 children from the three public day nursery were examined. Also the relation between the nutritional state and the enteroparasite infections in 90 children from two pblic day nursery. The frequency found was of 42% of intestinal parasitosis, mainly Blastocystis hominis (21%), Giardia lamblia (8%), and Entamoeba histolytica/Entamoeba díspar (4%). When analising the blood white series, it was observed a relation between increased eosinophyl count and intestinal parasitosis. The nutritional evaluation showed a satisfactory nutritional state of most of the children (86,7%), although some presented a risk of developing undernutrition (4,4%), which must be observed not to develop into pathologies. A very small number of children at undernutrition was observed (2,2%), which, therefore, prevented a corelation with enteroparasite infections. The frequency below expected was possibly related with the adequate nutritional state and teh satisfatory socioeconomical and sanitary conditions of most of the evaluated children
