This research aims to analyze the contributions of Ruy Mauro Marini for the theoretical study of politics and the state in light of the Marxist debate on these issues. In this sense, seeks to raise the main elements discussed within Marxism on the question of state and politics, seeking the influences of these elements in the work of Marini, to see which aspects addressed by this author may have relevance for the study of contemporary capitalism. Ruy Mauro Marini was one of the formulators of dependency theory, a stream of Latin American thought that from the mid-1960s analyzed the forms of the continent's integration into the world economy. In this context, it can be highlighted as a key part of his legacy theoretical concepts of exploitation of workers and sub-imperialism, developed in his political economy of dependence, and their analysis of the political model of our region, where emerge the concepts of state counterinsurgency Room and State power and the notes on the arrays and possible directions of popular movements in Latin America
