The production of petroleum is normally accompanied by the production of water that comes along with or is injected in the reservoir, with the objective of secondary recovery.The contaminants in this water are basically composed of petroleum constituents itself ( PAH´s, BTEX, phenol, etc ), dissolved salts originated in the reservoir, and chemical products used to treat the petroleum. This work will provide a water quality study and suggest some options that could be implemented in the produced water management process on off shore units, based on the analyses of all the steps involved in the process, utilizing the PDCA ( Plan, Do, Check and Act ) methodology
