Resumo: The history of Brazilian Public University throughout the years has shown that education has been facing a world of economical, cultural and social transformations that influenced, somehow, in its organizational development. Nowadays, in a globalized world, knowledge, competence and performance are references to the effectiveness of management. In addition, this process must be continuous so that the aspirations of the society could be achieved. Because of that, the organizational structure not only needs to provide the generation of knowledge multipliers but also must have its technical and administrative board trained and qualified to perform the work, without endangering their own health or the safety of others. Besides, absenteeism caused by diseases and accidents at work also affects productivity and, consequently, the quality of services offered to the community, what can make the objectives more difficult to be accomplished by the Institution. The Training Course in Collective Health offered by DDRH through DTA - IFES, cover issues related to health and work safety under different aspects, and can thus function as a management tool for occupational health of this University. The main goal of this research was to contribute to the improvement of its management. Also, to better analyze the progress of project toward its goals, contents, and methodology, case study were used as the chosen method of study. In order to reach the objectives of the research, a structured questionnaire was also applied as a tool for comparing students' knowledge on the topics studied, before and after the course. The main conclusion of the work points to the need for greater attention in terms of the evaluation process, in relation to the effectiveness offered proposal. The inobservance or the insufficient use of the evaluation opportunities affects the improvement of the administration of the course as well as its effectiveness on how to improve workers health and occupational safety.
