Resumo: | Investigation of the use of the straight and oblique pronouns of 3rd person in the functions of direct object and indirect object, from the understanding of these items as forms in competition in Portuguese language. Investigation based on the presupposition theories of the North-American oriented functionalism, that indicates the following tendencies: straight and oblique personal pronouns are forms in competition and can be analyzed under the optic of functionalism in its variation and change obliquity; the straight personal pronouns of 3rd person, when used in objective functions, show up more frequently in sentences of high transitivity; compositions from the initial grades of the Fundamental Teaching ought to show more frequency of the straight pronoun in the objective function than in the final grades of this level of teaching and of the Medium Teaching; this phenomenon happens due to the school's part; narrative texts favor the use of straight pronouns and argumentative texts favor the use of oblique pronouns; there are verbs that motivate the use of the straight pronoun because they reflect the oral language when written, language motivated by characteristics and situations of use. |
