Resumo: The Brazilian universities have been living with different historical and environmental contingencies that interfered in their process of development organizacional, without they have stopped contributing for the progress scientific, technological, cultural and of professional formation. The results longed for by the society, in relation to the Federal Institutions of higher education, will be fully reached when these, understand that, besides they act as generating and multiplier of knowledge, should maintain in their pictures functional trained people, motivated and committed with the warranty of the process of continuous improvement. The present research approaches relative themes to the administration of the knowledge, intellectual capital and training of servants in an Academical Center of a Public Federal Institution of higher education. The present study analyzed the training actions developed by the area of human resources of the Fluminense Federal University based upon the lifted up theoretical referential leaning on in the processes of people's development. For so much, it was looked for to use the methodology of case study, because the delineamento of that research type if it bases in the idea that the analysis of an unit of a chosen universe makes possible the understanding of the generality of the same. The used investigation was of field research and documental, through questionnaire application structured that it sought to identify the people's values and those related to the competences of the structure interns. The results allow to end, among other things, that actions seeking to the valorization of the servants and the modernization of the productive process is decisive for the improvement of the quality of the public service. The conclusions evidence that there are signs of flaws in the process of obtaining of results committing this way the reach of the objectives organizacionais. The suggestions appear for the accomplishment of research of satisfaction of the processes and practices of administration of human resources preceded by understanding campaigns and popularization of results for all Institution
