This thesis intends to evaluate the impact of the regional trading arrangements over foreign direct investment flows during the period of 1990 to 2003. Then, initially, for best comprehension, we will discuss theoretically the motivations of foreign direct investment and the possible effects of investment creation and diversion in trading arrangements. Subsequently, we show the astonishing increase of the FDI flows and the advance of the number of agreements in the studied period, trying to validate the study of the connections between both. And, finally, in order to reach the proposed objective, we use the gravity equation, through which were made the regressions, using methods suggested for recent literatures as for the best specification of the models.
