Distribuição temporal dos diagnósticos de gonorréia, sífilis e tricomoníase em uma clínica de DST em Niterói RJ: o carnaval influencia no aumento das DST?

Resumo: Introduction: the Sexually Transmited Diseases (STD) are among the most frequent causes of search for health services. The media campaigns on STD/Aids in are based carnival on the hypothesis that there is an increase in adult exhibition to risk practices for STD in this carnival period. Objective: to study the temporary distribution of the services of first time in the Section of STD/UFF in the period from 1993 to 2005, seeking to verify if there is a seasonal increase after carnival. Methods: 2.646 handbooks of patients with gonorrhea diagnosis, syphilis or trichomoniasis were selected, that sought STD/UFF Niterói RJ, Brazil for first time attendance in the from January, 1993 to December 2005. Statistical analysis was done by observation of the standardized average of the number of services for the thirteen years, observation of the series of services standardized month to month, year to year, observation of the series softened by the method Lowess and for the method deterministic of the movable average. Results: the distribution of the three diseases together a year it showed that the years of 1995, 1996 and 1997 concentrated the largest number of services. Gonorrhea was the most frequent diagnosis, followed by syphilis and of trichomoniasis. The months of July and August concentrated the largest number of cases of gonorrhea and syphilis and the one of June and July, the one of trichomoniasis. A gonorrhea presented a maximum value in May, tending to reduced until August; between August and November, the number of diagnoses oscillates lightly, but without an evident tendency of reduction or elevation; just starting from November a decrease is observed until January, when was registered the minimum value. Regarding the syphilis, a number of a stable number of diagnoses was observed between April and December, having a smaller number in January and February with a pick in November. The seasonal behavior for the trichomoniasis, exhibited a maximum of diagnoses in July, a solid tendency of reduction to the month of December, and an elevation, starting from January. Conclusion: the carnival doesn't influence for the increase of the gonorrhea occurrence, syphilis and trichomoniasis nor the media campaigns on STD/Aids act for the decrease of same DST in assisted patients of first time in the Section of STD/UFF, Niterói - RJ.
