Resumo: | Understanding that the greatest challenge in public sector belongs to management nature, since 1997 Inmetro participates in management awards, such as the National Award of Quality PNQ, the Rio Quality Award PQRio and the National Award of Public Management PQGF. In 2000, Inmetro conquered the gold ribbon award of PQGF. In 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007, Inmetro achieved silver in PQGF recognition. Despite having received recognition silver, Inmetro demonstrated progress in its management, since its overall score has grown over the years. In a process of continuous evolution, Inmetro is permanently implementing new methods and management processes in order to be in the vanguard of the public institution. This study, developed through the case study method, presents a research made in the Evaluation Reports issued by the Board of Examiners of the PQGF to Inmetro, from 2004 to 2007 cycles of awards. In this reports, the processes criteria and its inter-related and influencing items practices were analyzed in order to identify meaningful management practices, witch justify the positive evolution of Inmetro s punctuation in referred criteria and can serve as a reference for other organizations, whether public or private.
