Resumo: | The aim of this research is to analyze the process of forming professional educators at the Universidade Federal de Viçosa. Its starting point is the memories of its former-students from the 1980s. Taking into account the context of the small towns, this analysis sought to apprehend the significant elements from the way they reconstruct their choice for this course and the experience of their academic life through the narratives about their careers. At the same time, the contexts presented in their narratives are described taking into account the historical elements referred by them as more important or significant, focusing mainly on the history of the Universidade Federal de Viçosa, its Department of Education, and on its Course of Pedagogy. For this specific task, some relevant data was also collected from the memories of former lecturers of the course. For the development of this work, gender, place, generation, memory and life story were the analytical categories used. The results are maps and analyses accounting the complexity of the relationships between education and gender within a university better known as a space for agricultural matters; not only for the tensions and for negotiations about the limits posed to them in their search for a proper identity, as for the process of cultural onstruction of the Department of Education s History stressing the issues of gender and space in the Course of Pedagogy. |
