Resumo: | The point of this work is to analyze the reality of the poor people in Brazil, specifically in the city of Rio de Janeiro, to know their difficulties, and propose some solutions to minimize the problem, searching the inducement of the habit of reading, even with the low acquisitive power of the majority of the brazilian population, looking for the educational and cultural improvement. As result of the interviews that were done with the tutors and the children that lives in the community Ladeira dos Tabajaras, the main actions that must be done to improve the diffusion of the habit of reading in this community is: the regular supply of selected books to the libraries of the public schools of the community; the regular opening of the libraries, to the free access of the children before, after the classes and during the break for the lunch, and if it is possible, also during the weekends; the regular visit of the classes in the libraries, during the class time, with the supervision of the teachers; the doing of events, as story tellers, the reading of texts and poetry, and dramatized readings, to attract the children and energize the space; divulgation with posters dispersed in the walls of the schools, about the existence of the library and the new acquisitions of books, as well as about the events that are going to occur in the library; and regular visits of the classes in public libraries and books fairs |
