Resumo: | The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of the containers shipping routes, using the DEA methodology Data Envelopment Analysis, using multiple inputs and outputs. It uses data of a Brazilian shipping company which has vessels in fixed and regular routes along South America east cost. The possible routes that a container can go through between two localities are analyzed and its efficiency is calculated based on three different approaches, established through weight restrictions. Two types of routes are characterized in the study: routes that a container accomplishes the transshipment operation (connection), in some port, in order to reach its final destination, and routes that the container does not accomplish this operation, being transported from its origin to the destination in only one ship. Four different models were developed and tested in order to deal with the problem of the non-homogeneous types of routes as well as the matter of transshipment port productivity. In these models were used actual data of transit time, productivity and port costs, such as: container storage and transshipment operation costs. The purpose of this study is to provide the shipping companies, through the use of this decision support tool in operational level, higher efficiency in the goods transportation between different localities and better customer needs attendance. |
