Resumo: | This study investigates how the strategic adaptation processs has been developed at Centro Universitário da Cidade UniverCidade, private HEI Higher Education Institute covering the period from 1980 to 2005. With the general objective to determine which and how those strategics changes, have been developed during that period, and identifying the external environment and internal factores that influenced them. Those changes in strategies had been analazyzed empirically through the theoretical model of Pettigrew (1987), which seeks the relation between the context, the content and the implementation process of the change. This research has been developed as a simple case study, of a qualitative nature aiming to understand the phenomenon of the changes in the institute. This study has used the method of the Direct Research (Mintzberg, 1979) to collect data. In the theoretical basis, it has contemplated the relative aspects to the strategic adaptation process, epecifically, the strategic choice and the environmental determinism. Describing the strategic adaptation process in the institute, as it suffers external changes (environment influences), acting directly in the institute. It has been concluded that, the institute adapted differents strategies at each period analyzed, in order to adapt itself to the various situations, implement new process and diversificate its products offer, such as graduation courses. |
