Resumo: | In the sixties, apparently the concentration of population and of the productive activities in the North Zone and in the Central Area of the city of Rio de Janeiro, at that time named state of Guanabara, inhibited the industrial growth. That situation was giving birth to a process of transferences of factories to other states and mainly to areas of neighbor cities of the state of Rio de Janeiro. As a means of halting the desindustrialization of the city, the government of the old state of Guanabara created five industrial districts (Fazenda Botafogo, Palmares, Santa Cruz, Paciência e Campo Grande). All the districts were located in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, except from Fazenda Botafogo. Considering these facts, this piece of work aims to analyze the evolution of the industrial districts throughout the decades of 1970, 1980 and 2000 to clarify if the industrial districts, created by that time, promoted the (re)organization of the urban area of Rio de Janeiro. That is, if they fostered an effective process f transferences of the industries from the already saturated areas from the city to the new industrial space that was being created by the introduction of the industrial districts. To answer this question, the reasoning went through ways that started at the exposition of different concepts of industrial districts, then the presentation of different international experiences that served as a parameter to the creation of the industrial districts in Brazil. Next , the implantation of the industrial districts in the old state of Guanabara, that after the merger with the old state of Rio became the state of Rio de Janeiro, is analyzed and concluding, some considerations about the hole of the industrial districts in the organization of the carioca space. The accomplishment of this project demanded bibliographic research as well as several data collection that were obtained mainly from STATISTICS ANUÁRIOS of the city and of the state of Rio de Janeiro and through reports from CODIN. |
