Resumo: Paricá (Schizolobium amazonicum Huber ex Ducke) is a native species that has been gaining prominence among commercial plantations in the Amazon region, its growth characteristics and production for multiple uses. For this reason, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of planting space in economic analysis of timber production paricá. For this, the data used in this study originate homogeneous stands planted under the spacings 3x2, 3x3, 3x4, 4x4 and 5x5 m, located in the State of Pará. These stands were inventoried annually by fifth year, and analyzed three classes of productivity in each spacing, which are: Low (17 – 19 m), Medium (19 – 21 m) and High (21 – 24 m). Later, with the aid of modeling, the total and laminate, volumes were estimated at 5, 6 and 7 years. Estimate the volume, and identified all the costs, these were deflated by the IGP – DI, and subsequently undercapitalized. Thus, we proceeded to the economic analysis, using the methodology developed by the Institute of Agricultural Economics, along with the criterion periodic benefit equivalent. As a result it was found that the actual operating costs represented on average 65 % of total costs of production, transportation and the most expressive individual cost in all spacings analyzed. The economic analysis indicated that the monoculture paricá, regardless of spacing, was impracticable, when used to sell the timber without exploitation. This response is associated with low market value to which the species is subject. The logging, even being a laborious and costly process, an alternative is to give positive values to the production of paricá. Therefore, it can be inferred that the greatest financial return is obtained in stands of paricá deployed in class high productivity under the 3x3 m spacing, with operating at 5 years. However, for larger planting space, studies have yet to be developed.
