Resumo: Objective: To evaluate the effect of food incentive for patients with Tuberculosis in the treatment outcome in four Brazilian regions. Methods: This is an trial intervention study out in four Brazilian capitals with patients diagnosed between February 1, 2014 and July 31, 2016. Randomization occurred through health services in selected capitals. The collection of data was performed by the professionals who attended the patients during the routine of treatment. For Statistical analyzes were performed using the chi-square test to verify the proportions and soon after a Poisson regression with robust variation. Results: A total of 519 patients were followed, 296 in the non-intervention group and 223 in the intervention group. In the poisson regression we observed a statistically significant association with the intervention between the individuals who work and study, ex-smokers, HIV-positive patients, patients with renal disease, and the food incentive. Conclusions: It was found that the food incentive has a beneficial effect on the treatment outcome. However, further research on conditionality is needed to apply this benefit as a supporting strategy for the treatment of patients with tuberculosis.
