Resumo: The arterial hypertension is one of the most problems of public health of the country, for the high prevalence in the population, and by the association the damage that can cause incapacities and/or the death. The control of the disease is complex and requires changes in habits related to risk factors. This can intervene with the perception of the individual how much the quality of life, occurring occurring commitment in monitoring and adjustments in the hypertensive disease requires. The general objective of the study was to investigate the association between risk factors / Quality of Life and control blood pressure in hypertensive patients using anti- hypertensive medications, registered in the Unit for Family Health (USF) Maruípe, in the city of Vitoria, Espirito Santo . It was used method of cross section, with quantitative approach. Inclusion criteria were: register at USF Maruípe as hypertension, use of anti-hypertensive medications and aged over 25 years. The sample was composed of 331 people distributed proportionately, by sex and age. Data were collected through the WHOQOL-bref, for perception of Quality of Life, and the identification of risk factors: body mass index (BMI), waist-hip ratio (WHR) and non-invasive blood pressure. In the analysis of the data, it was used the statistical program SPSS 13.0 for description of the data and analyses to the Mann-Whitney tests, chi-square and of Mantel-Haenszel. The results association identified in the control of blood pressure males with BMI, and females with the global aspect of the quality of life. Therefore, assessment of QV and measures such as these used in this study are important and practicals to assist in addressing the full hypertensive.
