Resumo: One of the main functions of the Public Administration is to convert public tributes into goods and services to the people, which depends necessarily on an efficient public procuremente system. Nowadays, the most used mechanism for public procurement in the federal government is the Price Registration System (PRS), characterized by the lack of necessity to formalize the purchase and funds disponibility. In the PRS, such as in the other procurement processes, by legal impose, the quantity to be acquired must be estimated by forecast techniques. However, it doesn't occur in the majority of the processes performed through the PRS. From this finding, and considering the importance of accurate forecast demand as a form to prevent under or superestimated demands, the purpose of the estudy was to verify if the estimated quantities in the price records performed by the IFES Rectory reflected the real supply needs of the unit. It was analyzed, by using an performance indicator and its interpretation scale, 29 processes which used the Price Record System to acquire goods, whose terms has expired, between 2010 a 2014. The results indicated the necessity of improving the acquisition planning and forecast demand in IFES Rectory, once the indicator pointed a high forecast error e low forecast accuracy. Therefore, the study suggested the adoption of the indicator as a control mechanism of forecast demand, as well as the use of a procedure manual was a form to assist the public procurement planning and the way the processes are performed, as a final product of the work
