Resumo: Financial problems cause concerns, stress, lack of motivation and lack of concentration on development of professional activities, as well as impair leisure, quality of alimentation and education of children, influencing the levels of satisfaction and well-being at work. That being said, the present study aims to answer the following question: is there a correlation, statistically significant, between the factors and between dimensions that constitute the consumerism, the propensity to indebtedness and the perception of life quality at work of public servants of Federal Institute of Espirito Santo (IFES) - campus of Alegre? As specific objectives, we intend to analyze the consumption of servants, evaluate the propensity to indebtedness and the perception of life quality at work. For research, we chose a quantitative approach, through a survey, in which the questionnaire was a data collection instrument. For processing and analyzing the data, we used the software Excel ® and Statistical Package for the Social Sciences ® (SPSS) 20.0. The results demonstrate that the servants, on average, have low consumption levels, high levels of propensity to indebtedness and high levels of satisfaction with the life quality at work. The correlation between the factors is small, but defined, indicating that individuals with higher levels of consumerism have a more favorable attitude to indebtedness. The consumerism factor has high correlation with the dimensions success, centrality and happiness. The factor propensity for indebtedness shows a moderate correlation with the dimensions impact of social moral and degree of selfcontrol, and high correlation with the dimension preferably in time. The life quality at work factor, on the other side, shows high correlation to the dimensions of economic indicators, political, psychological and sociological. The results were similar to the studies of Moura (2005), Ponchio (2006) and Trindade (2009), indicating that decisions involving the indebtedness, of the servants who participated in this survey, are not completely rational, because they suffer interference of several behavioral and psychological variables. Finally, we point out that the IFES should propose to take a course, preferably free, of financial education within the Institution environment, which could contemplate the online mode to reach a larger number of people. In addition, the Institute may also plan to implement a Life Quality at Work program (QVT) that has a preventive approach, based on a proposal to evaluation and maintenance of the level of satisfaction of servants
