Resumo: | This paper refers to a historical analysis on the process of construction of the autonomous Zapatista government between 1994 and 2008, when the chiapaneco rebels transformed the districts controlled by the EZLN (Ejercito Zapatista de Nacional Liberacion - Zapatista Army of National Liberation) in autonomous municipalities established in August 2003 with the creation of the Caracoles and the Juntas de Buen Gobierno. The emphasis here is on the influences received from other autonomist experiences that took place in the State of Chiapas, especially in the Lacandona jungle region in the 70’s and 80’s. It shows as well as the specific characteristics developed by the movement from its particular perception of power and autonomy contents that is considered one of the most important collective rights for the embodiment of the natives to the national society in similar conditions of equality and justice. The Zapatista autonomous project represents an alternative to a concentrated and homogeneous political system that creates many obstacles for the uprising of active and free politics. It means they do not need government assistance and the tyranny of old leaderships. The evaluation of this process shows it to be one of progress, boundless limits and challenges resulting from the historical choices done by the Zapatista movement during 10 years of resistance. |
