Resumo: The abusive use of psychoactive substances (PAS) by children and adolescents presents itself as a major challenge for public policies on child and adolescent mental health (CAMH). Such situation requires the structuring of new knowledge and care practices. This thesis’s objective is to understand the child and adolescent place in the use of PAS in the strategies of care in a CAMH service. Therefore, the methodology was inspired by the Fourth Generation Evaluation, developed by Guba and Lincoln (2012). The research was carried out in a CAPSij of a Southeatern Brazilian city, and used participant observation as a data gathering instrument, interviews and groups with 10 professionals of service, interviews with 6 adolescents accompanied in the CAPSij. The data were analyzed using the constant comparative method (Glaser and Strauss, adapted by Guba and Lincoln, 2012) and from content analysis in the thematic analysis modality (Minayo, 1994), and were discussed by the light of Analytical Psychology, the main assumptions of the Psychiatric Reform regarding CAMH. Five thematic axes were obtained: in Axis 1 the care actions directed to the AD of children and adolescents were discussed, based on the observations and actions of CAPSij professionals. In Axis 2 the main care characteristics directed to the AD public in CAPSij were obtained, based on the statements and actions of the CAPSij professionals. In Axis 3 the conceptions of care and perception of care actions towards adolescents in use of PAS by the users themselves was discussed. In Axis 4 the comprehension of the child and adolescent’s place in use of PAS understand and seek a place of care, from the adolescent’s perspective. The conclusion was that the place of care is not fixed, but depends on how it is performed, understood and received and how the relational processes established in the CAPSij with the child and adolescent in use of PAS, pointing to a “Relational Place”. Starting from the therapeutic relations established in the CAPSij, this may be understood as “temenos”, the safe and potentially therapeutic place, where the process of transformation and development of the subjects can be sustained. This is only possible as the service`s perception towards the adolescents isn`t distorted by the cultural complexes that circumscribe the “drug user teenagers”. Thus, while professionals see the adolescent as a whole, and not from stereotypes, it is possible to stablish with them a therapeutic bond, from where it is possible to build a temenos, that is, build a caring place for the child and adolescent.
