Resumo: The dissertation has as its object of study the teaching-learning process of capoeira for children in a situation of social care. The objectives of the research are: 1. To analyze the production of Brazilian graduate studies on socio-educational work with children in social care; 2. Discuss, through a pedagogical experience with capoeira, the challenges and possibilities for the development of citizenship demanded with children in social shelter; 3. Produce, based on bibliographic research and action research undertaken, reflective notes for the development of citizenship demanded with children in social care. To achieve the proposed objectives, the dissertation combines two methodologies: Bibliographic Research with Existential Action Research. The Bibliographic Research is associated with the first objective and has as its source the Capes Theses and Dissertation Catalogue. The corpus of the Bibliographic Research is composed of 59 works, being 10 theses and 49 dissertations. The Existential Action Research is linked to the second objective and was carried out at Instituto Vida – Casa Lar, from July to December 2021, resulting in 23 pedagogical mediations. The research subjects are: 10 children, between four and 14 years old, two social parents, a social worker, a psychologist, two social educators and a cook. The data produced was grouped into three analytical categories: 1) Agency/Protagosnism, with the subcategories: authorial practices, reframing and co-participation; 2) Pedagogical Mediation, with the subcategories: question pedagogy, different languages, affective dimension; 3) City. The third objective articulates the results found in the Bibliographic Research and in the Existential Action Research to produce reflective notes on the socio-educational work with capoeira, for children in a situation of social shelter, in the perspective of the development of the claimed citizenship.
