Resumo: A striking feature of the semi-arid Northeast is the occurrence of severe droughts, that significantly reduce production volumes and focus sharply on broad rural population. In the event of drought, the farmers/the family semi-arid suffer from the disruption of productive family unit. With the drought is the partial or total loss of the crop and the debilitation or death of the herd, thereby weakening the family agriculture. In the year 2002, the Government Federal initiated modifications in the approach to the problem of drought, introducing more permanent protection actions, to create the Warranty Program-Crop. The program meets the farmers/the families of Northeast, North of the State of Minas Gerais and Northern State of Espirito Santo who lose more than 50% of the production of beans, corn, rice or cassava during drought. The objective of the research is to examine whether the Warranty Program-Crop is contributing with the reproduction of the family productive units in the Denir settlement, Ocara-CE, during the drought of the year 2013. A systemic approach was used through the Diagnostic Analysis of Agrarian Systems (ADSA). As a result, were built the Agroecossistêmico zoning Productive Partner, comprising six zones; a frame of the historical evolution of the settlement; and the typology of production systems, with the characterization of each system. It was subsequently examined the degree of knowledge of the families about the program, which resulted in the finding of a low degree of knowledge about their operation. In relation to your use of the program feature by households were characterized three groups: a group of families that use the resource in the system of creation; Another consisting of families who use the resource to buy water and food products; and a third that is formed by families who use the resource only for buying food for the family and other expenses like buying cooking gas and pay the electric bill. The alternatives created by households from the Warranty Program-Crop demonstrates that this is a strong support mechanism at production units in the period of drought family. Therefore, it is concluded that the settlers (the) can, with the contribution of the program feature, minimize the effects of the impacts of drought and also ensure social reproduction of their families.
