Resumo: This study aims to reflect on the human values from the teaching practices of teachers from Dominic Savio High School. The main question is how does the teaching practice and education in human values happen, from the proposed program “Cinco Minutos em Valores Humanos” (Five Minutes in Human Values), which provides grants to schools, in print or available for "downloads", so they can develop in these spaces, activities, in order to contribute to human development, which favors the construction of a culture of peace. The work from the perspective of an education in human values is increasingly making itself present in pedagogical practices that aim to contribute to an enlightening training, in addition to considering curricular issues, aspects related to ethics and spirituality. The interest in working with this topic strengthened from a participation in the Research Group Peace Culture, Youth and Teachers: school experiences, nongovernmental organizations and State and Local Education’s secretaries, which aims to investigate the experiences, focusing on the culture of peace in schools, contributing to the study and dissemination of initiatives from the perspective of values education. To perform this study we chose the qualitative approach and used literature, exploratory and field research. The case study allowed us to obtain the maximum of information and further work on the values in the school chosen for this study. For data collection, the methodological procedure chosen was the observation, with the production of a diary, and interviews with the research subjects: teachers and students. With them, we also conducted a focus group. The data shows that teachers, mostly perceire the importance of human values in their pedagogical work, even contributing with the rethinking of personal aspects of their daily lives. The program proposal is emphasized positively, since it is a methodology easy to be applied, with just some adjustments to be made with the stories used. Thus, the work has contributed to teachers and students, with new way of acting, more supportive and respectful to other people. Therefore, investing in the training of teachers in human values has facilitated teachers and their students’ living together, reducing their violence and performing a peaceful coexistence, based on dialogue, thus building a culture of peace.
