Resumo: |
Black and indigenous rural communities in Ceará suffered a historic process of ethnic and social invisibility, although the state of Ceará is recognized as the "Land of Light" for being the first Brazilian province to abolish slavery in 1884, however, the effective recognition of social and political rights of both black and indigenous populations were denied, which produced and broadcast in the common sense idea, "in Ceará no blacks and Indians." Considering the historical context of Ceará and the denial of the existence of rural black communities in its territory, this dissertation presents the results of an ethnographic study, which aimed to understand how to represent the processes of identity construction and to what extent such processes influence the dynamics social and ethnic consolidation in the Quilombo Community Serra Evaristo in Baturité / CE. The main objective of the research focused the focus of analysis in the various constituent elements of identity processes produced by cultural practices from the experiences, stories and ways of life, and aspects related to religiosity, territoriality, memory as well as the presence of agents external to the community. |
