The research aimed to understand the social representations of the nurse specialist in Nephrology regarding professional identity; describe career choice; identify the representations assigned to the profession. Study is an exploratory, descriptive, qualitative, held in Fortaleza / CE, during the period February to May 2012, with 13 units of renal replacement therapy, with a population of 25 nurses nephrologists. We used the theory of social representations with Free Word Association by the Association Test Free Word and The semistructured interview, organized and analyzed by two softwares, respectively: Evoc and Alcest, with approval of the Ethics in Research Universidade Federal do Ceará. 422/11. The results showed five distinct stages: first, the profile of participants and second, the academic / graduation and third, the trajectory of professional practice as a specialist in Nephrology, fourth and fifth - correspond respectively to free evocations of words, detected the probable elements peripheral and central, Featured – care and knowledge, and, finally, the lexical context of the words from the semi-structured interview, with 86% recovery of the corpus, divided into three classes: Stage extracurricular undergraduate, professional Identity and assistance to the patient. It was noticed that the professional identity was acquired in the daily exercise of labor and concludes that developed in the challenges of everyday working practice. The extracurricular experiences were significant in the choice and performance in Nephrology, becoming the professional identity of nurse specialists in Nephrology. Eventually, we recommend to universities and colleges that include Political Pedagogical Project in the course of Bachelor of Nursing Nephrology Nursing discipline, since it is increasing the incidence of renal patients, Public Health situation that requires skilled professionals for professional this specialty. |
