Resumo: A computer model SRFR (Surface Furrows), version 20 (STRELKOFF, 1990), based on the solution of the Saint-Venant equations, was applied to the analysis for four different set of field data. Two situations were studied. In the first case, the streamflow was used as a constant inflow and as a cutback flow, at the end of advance phase. In the second case the program used applied to simulate irrigation based on CRIDDLE et alli (1956) 1/4 rule. For each case four different advance-ratios were used, both for short and large furrows. Results indicate that the irrigation systems under analysis performed below recomended levels. On the other hand, it seems that cutback has a major role in incrementing irrigation efficiency. Besides, short furrows performed better than long furrows. Fynally, more detailed studies are recommended including a new interative version of the program. Such studies should relate to simulates with different parameters (streamflows, slope, cut-off time and soil parameters). The methodologie used herein is recommended to teaching and research as well as for desing purposes.
