Resumo: The main objective of this study was to evaluate the presence of spatial dependence in the stock of formal employment in the industrial and agricultural sectors of Ceará in 1997 and 2007. Search is thus identify their spatial spillovers between municipalities and thus realize the contributions of each sector to reverse the inequalities between the regions of Ceará. It was used the Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis (ESDA) with emphasis on use of statistics of spatial autocorrelation Moran's I and Moran Local, and thematic maps. The results indicate that both sectors, industry and agriculture, showed a similar picture. While growing, the indices of spatial remain low and show a limited capacity to overflow. This limitation hampers the development of activities, especially industry, and reduce the positive effects that these activities can exert on the growth of the formal labor market, labor supply and income, and hence the process of economic development of regions of Ceará, and restrict these effects to a few areas of the state. A policy of territorial qualification and redesign of the mechanisms of tax incentives could help reverse this situation.
