Resumo: |
Price variability is a very characteristic phenomenon in economics. According to Baye et al. (2004), often this not only persists over time but also depends on the market structure. Therefore, the work in question intends to evaluate the hypothesis of price convergence within Brazilian E-commerce aggregators between the years 2021 and 2022. It is analyzed whether the number of rms listing the same product inuences the price dispersion of the good. A Pooled model built from information from the zoom.com comparator for TVs and Notebooks in the home appliance and electronics segment, respectively, was used. The research is also grouped, in an exploratory way, some answers about the role of large marketplaces within this aggregator and how they affect price variability. The results demonstrate that there are not enough arguments that indicate a convergence of prices, much less make the validity of the Law of Single Prices possible, but the reduction of price dispersion is feasible as more stores list their prices and competition intensies within the aggregator. |
