Resumo: |
Adhesive systems have undergone major developments in the last decades, revolutionizing many aspects of restorative, aesthetic and preventive dentistry. However, given of the diversity of commercial presentations, it is common for clinicians to experience difficulty in choosing the ideal material for each case, as well as in their application technique. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the knowledge level of Brazilian dentists about current adhesive systems. Data collection was performed through an electronic questionnaire, considering: a) sociodemographic profile; b) academic training; and c) application and adhesive systems choice (commercial presentation preferably, application criteria for etch-and-rinse and selfetch systems, clinical decisions and preferences, factors that influence the choice of adhesive systems, confidence in the application technique and means of obtaining scientific evidence). The sample consisted of 501 dentists and the results obtained were treat through the Sigma Stat 5.0 program (p <0.05). The results showed that there are many doubts about the application technique since there was a lack of standardization in several stages of the procedures and disagreement with the current scientific evidence. The identification of errors and difficulties enables strategic planning to resolve these deficiencies. At the end of the research, the participants received a feedback with the commented questions, based on the current scientific evidence, as a way of arousing interest in mastering this very important topic in current dentistry. |
