Resumo: |
Faced with the Catholic Church's effort to promote strong discussions around the theme of sustainability, and to encourage its faithful to seek a true "ecological conversion", the objective of this research is to analyze the influence of religiosity in the formation of sustainable behavior of Catholic individuals. The study starts from the premise that understanding the factors that lead individuals to sustainable actions has been increasingly relevant. Based on the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA), developed by Fishbein and Ajzen (1975), this dissertation is characterized as quantitative, conducted through a survey with Catholic individuals who reside in the city of Fortaleza - CE. As a collection technique, a structured questionnaire was used. The data of this investigation were submitted to statistical procedures regarding descriptive statistics and multivariate analysis. The results showed that religiosity has a negative influence on attitudes, and a positive influence on subjective norms related to the environment, and that attitudes and subjective norms have a positive effect on the formation of sustainable behavior. Therefore, the influence of religiosity on the formation of sustainable behaviors is reflected in the formation of subjective norms, since a positive relationship between religiosity and pro-environmental attitudes has not been verified. This study is expected to contribute to deepening the comprehension and fostering discussions around the existing connections between religiosity and sustainable behavior. |
