Resumo: |
The goal of this study is to estimate an equation explaining the export of Brazilian sugar, with the aim of identifying which variables impact the performance of exports of this commodity and measure the price elasticity of supply of sugar, with the methodology of the ordinary least squares (OLS). The reporting period covers May 1997 to December 2010, with values recorded monthly. The main variables identified as determinants of exports are prices and world income. The coefficients of the estimated model demonstrated results consistent with economic theory showing that the world price and income affect Brazilian exports, resulting in the price elasticity of supply inelastic. |
