Resumo: |
This paper deals with the affections which come from the relation between the person and the city, starting from the esteem of the place category. Its objectives involve the analysis of the suicide phenomenon from the perspective of social and environmental processes, as well as looking at the affectivity and the way of life in the city in the prevention of psychological illness and also suicide among young people. We found in Social Psychology and Environmental Psychology the theoretical support to weave relations among suicide, affectivity, youth and the urban way of life. The target population were the residents from Fortaleza city between 18 and 29 years old from both sexes and different schooling. To do that we use the Affective Maps Generating Instrument that aims to apprehend the affective relationship (feelings and emotions) between the individual with the environment. An eminently qualitative analysis was developed based on the organization of the categories: Identification, Structure, Meaning, Quality, Feeling, Metaphor and Sense. We also have a complementary quantitative analysis inbuilt inside one of the items of the instrument. Among the 25 analyzed instruments we observed an expressive result of a contrasting image of the city. The contrast is expressed through ambiguous feelings and qualities with the polarization between positive and negative experiencese liciting characteristics that can lead to pleasantness, belonging, insecurity and destruction. The maps in which the esteem of the place is positive indicate identification and appropriation of the participant with the environmentencouraging creativity in peoplemore committed to the community where naturally there is attachment, admiration and care with the place. On the other hand, the maps where we found the negative esteem of theplace show lack of connection and of energy to act in favor of the environment making feelings like sadness, anxiety, anguish, suffering, solitude, among others. As we start from an Environmental Psychology that places the environment as an important part of the subjectivity of the people, the negative esteem of the place isn’t unrelated to the affections and attitudes from the people towards themselves, the other and the life. |
