This research aims to analyze the career development of the artisans who hold the tiltle of Masters of Traditional Popular Culture within the scope of the creative industry of Ceará. The understanding of the artisans, their work techniques and professional trajectories can contribute to a better understanding of the phenomenon of the relationship between artistic, creative, technical and entrepreneurial competencies in the development of business and trade in the creative industry of Ceará. The study has a qualitative nature and, considering the objectives, it is classified as exploratory and descriptive. Regarding to the methodological procedures, this is a field research that uses the life history method associated with the study of multiple cases. The data collection through interviews semi-structured was conducted with six artisans who hold the title of Masters of Traditional Popular Culture, title granted by the State Government of Ceará, which refers to a symbolic recognition of the importance of popular artist in the cultural context of the state of Ceará. Data were analyzed using content analysis. The results showed the existence of cycles and stages along the career development of artisans, so they had other work experience before settling down as artisans. Furthermore, the Masters‟careers showed characteristic elements of entrepreneurial behavior with regard to handicraft, which involves the creation and innovation in terms of products and techniques in order to meet customer needs and seeking opportunities. Thus, the identity of artisans dominated the business and entrepreneurial identity, making the artisans seem to be included in the group of people involved in necessity entrepreneurship, demonstrating that the potential of their careers has not been fully explored. |
