Resumo: |
In dentistry, and especially in the field of cariology, specific electronic systems for recording data related to caries are rare and difficulty in comparing data collected by different caries indices is common. In view of this, the objective of this work was to develop an electronic data recording system in Cariology, as well as to carry out content validation and test it for effectiveness, efficiency, usability. Furthermore, the system allows data to be recorded using ICDAS II (International Caries Detection and Evaluation System) or Nyvad, converting one into the other. Data from the PUFA (Pulpal Involvement, Ulceration, Fistula and Abscess), DMFT (Decayed, Missing or Restored Teeth) and Visible Plaque indices can also be recorded or extracted. The study consisted of the development and evaluation of a software called Cariodata. Soon after the development stage, tests were carried out in order to evaluate content, effectiveness, efficiency and usability. For content validation, professionals with experience in systems development were invited to evaluate the software using preestablished criteria and the content validity index (CVI) was calculated. In order to evaluate the system in terms of efficiency, effectiveness and usability, professors with theoretical/ practical knowledge in the areas of Cariology/Dentistry of Dentistry courses at all faculties in the state of Ceará were invited, of which 31 of them agreed to participate. The tests were performed individually and remotely, following commands sent via electronic form. At the end of the tests, the teachers answered some questions regarding the use of the software. The system usability scale (SUS) was used. In addition to this information, participants also reported their difficulties and doubts in using Cariodata and made suggestions for improvements. After applying the tests, the collected data were organized and computed using the StatPlus Statistics & Analysis program version 8.0.3. The content evaluation was given by percentage and the final value was 75, the CVI was 0.92. The effectiveness assessment was measured from the percentage of commands that were completed correctly and was 98.01%. Efficiency was evaluated by the time required to complete a proposed command. With a significance level of 5%, the result was that the times in each command followed a normal distribution. The SUS index calculated for Cariodata had a total average of 94.19. The system showed excellent results in terms of content, effectiveness, efficiency and usability, when evaluated by professionals with theoretical/practical knowledge in the field of Cariology/Dentistics. |
