Resumo: The present study has as objective to analyze the narrative of migrants from Ceará to the EntreRios in Piauí, which happened from 1940 to 1970. The movements of these families, conditioned by the consequences of the dry, familiar derangements or other issues, were influenced, also, by an improvement of life expectation. Dry times, escaping hunger and misery, searching other possibilities of relations of field work, even without access to the land, are feelings that moved these people from Ceará to engage in travels searching a “better land”. These are workers who, while living in Ceará, lived of cultivations of “rootings” in stranger lands, under the system of payment of a rent. In this sense, the migration to Piauí, altered only a little the field worker condition, however, it was revealed as a plausible way, in contrasts to the roughness of “Ceará’s sertão”. The region known as EntreRios gets in the route of well living possibilities, because of its fertile lands, very good to cultivation and the fact of being rich in waters, Parnaiba and Poti rivers which cut those lands and woods, which, are full of “babaçuais”, that thrived the eyes of the people from sertão after long travelings. In this specialty, charted by the trajectories of narrators, notice that the work’s relation, firmed based in verbal contracts, the survival strategies were more and more fundamented, having as support the solidarity networks established among families, neighborhood, and combinations of strength of all the family core. When these life mean’s achievements are affected, disturbing the survival, families move again, searching better life conditions tasting flavors that are reformulated. One of these destinies was Teresina, where poor workers from the field become poor people from the city, marking trajectories of daily fights which configure, in the memories the ones living in the field as a space that is missed. We are guided in this work by oral narratives of men and women, on the look-out of their life experiences, and as a support to oral history, Governmental Accounts, studied periodics of the time, among other written registries.
