Resumo: The search for improvement in the results of students in external evaluations, the difficulty that many have to work with geometric figures and their elements, motivated the search for concrete materials that would improve my practice in the classroom, motivating this work. Therefore, the objective of this work is to show the folds as a tool so that the teacher of basic education can have a north in the search for materials, always making a connection between the abstract and the concrete always with focus and planning to avoid emptying the contents. during practices. A bibliographic survey was made, in which the chosen works help in the construction of geometric figures using folds and with simple assemblies, and that the mathematical content has not been lost. The result obtained was a text that shows a little of the history of origami and some of its applications in other areas, Axioms about origami, Theorems about and that use origami, solving some problems using folding, after proving the mathematical result, were also shown how to obtain simple geometric figures using folds, then construction of Plato's solids using different techniques, activities were presented as a suggestion to point out the use in the classroom of folds.
