Resumo: |
This work evaluated the use of the bioremediation technique by the application of selected microorganisms (biological additives), that accelerate the organic matter degradation, to increase the microbial population in the treatment system, recovering or improving the biological process efficiency in stabilization ponds. The work was developed in the basis of the results from the wastewater samples analysis collected in Malvas wastewater treatment plant, operated by the Company of Water and Wastewater of Ceará (CAGECE) in Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará State. During a 5 (five) month period, it was verified the behavior of the ponds by the analysis of the following parameters: BOD, COD, total and fecal coliforms, settable solids, total suspended solids, electric conductivity, temperature, dissolved oxygen, sulphydric gas and sulfide. The total BOD and COD removals were, respectively, 84 and 80%. The sulphydric gas removal in ponds 1 and 2 were, respectively, 43 and 38%. The dissolved oxygen rate, during the additive application, increased gradually month by month. The maturation pond effluent can be used for unrestricted irrigation, since TFC < 1000/100 mL. The in situ bioremediation process had the objective of applying the technology to help the environment, by reintroducing microorganisms, improving their activity in the biodegradation process. |
